Small Turkey Gourd Box from Peru

One World Projects

$ 23.00

Let's "talk turkey" about this exquisitely etched, burnt, and carved gourd box depicting a turkey.

It was handmade by artisans at Tito Medina's workshop in Huancayo Peru. Gourd carving is a traditional craft of the Andean mountain region and in the Medina family it spans four generations. The art of carving gourds is helping to bring sustainable income to more than 20 artisans and their families.

For all you vegetarians who have already quit "cold turkey" use this unique gourd box to store your trinkets, keys, coins, or to decorate your home at Thanksgiving.  For the rest, when you sit down to turkey, be thankful for the many blessings you have and that you are not a turkey on Thanksgiving. This fair trade turkey box is a perfect choice for friends and family looking for a natural gift that also gives to others. Gobble, gobble!!

  • Measures 4-1/4” high x 3-3/4” diameter

Handmade, etched, and carved in Peru and fair trade imported.
